Brentford vs Everton Premier League Match Overview

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored in second-half stoppage-time to salvage a 2-2 draw for Everton against fellow European contenders Brentford.

Igor Thiago kick-started a rip-roaring Premier League contest with a cool third-minute penalty, but Everton deservedly levelled through Beto.

Brentford twice hit the crossbar before Dewsbury-Hall squandered a golden chance to put Everton ahead, with Thiago deflecting in Michael Kayode’s strike moments later.

Thiago’s fortuitous 76th-minute goal seemed to have sealed a potentially vital win for the hosts at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Yet Dewsbury-Hall atoned for his earlier miss with an emphatic finish in the first minute of stoppage time, keeping seventh-place Brentford and Everton, one place below in eighth, locked together on 47 points.

How the match unfolded

Just 78 seconds into the game, Kevin Schade drew a desperate lunge from Jordan Pickford inside Everton’s penalty area.

The England international could not stop Thiago picking out the bottom corner from 12 yards for his 20th league goal of the season. The Brazilian emulated Ivan Toney (in 2022/23) and Bryan Mbeumo (in 2024/25) by reaching that landmark for the Bees in a Premier League campaign.

Brentford ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher pulled off a fantastic double save to deny Idrissa Gueye and Beto, but there was nothing he could do to prevent Everton’s in-form forward restoring parity in the 26th minute as he headed in from Gueye’s looping cross.

Pickford then superbly thwarted Mathias Jensen and reacted brilliantly to keep out Dango Ouattara’s follow-up, either side of Schade hitting the crossbar.

The woodwork came to Everton’s rescue again early in the second half from a Nathan Collins header, while Jarrad Branthwaite made a block from another Schade effort.

Kelleher’s trailing leg stopped Iliman Ndiaye’s deflected attempt putting Everton ahead, before Dewsbury-Hall bafflingly elected to turn back on himself when through on Brentford’s goal.

That hesitation proved costly as Kayode cut inside and saw his shot deflect in off Thiago for his 21st goal of the campaign. In doing so, Thiago became the club’s highest goalscorer in a single Premier League season.

Yet Dewsbury-Hall made amends in dramatic fashion, brutally drilling in after Jake O’Brien’s shot deflected into his path, ensuring a share of the spoils for David Moyes’ men.
